Jeffrey Wong (MBA1) is leading the Stanford GSB stock competition with a gain of over 38% since the contest began on 11/15/01. He ranks 18th out of more than 1,000 entrants in the overall MBA Jungle contest.

George Soros made $1 billion in a single day as he shorted the British Pound. Jeff didn’t quite make that much the day that he shorted Enron back on 11/27/01, but he did make enough to vault him toward the top of the ranks in the MBA Jungle investment contest. After closing out his short position on 12/4/01, he has been content to sit quietly on the cash and ride out what has turned out to be an extremely bumpy month for the markets.

His strategy is to find 2-3 opportunities during the year that he can invest in rather than trying to invest in a steady growth portfolio. Keep an eye out for his next big swing…
