“There are just too many darn kids in the class this year,” announced Kreps. “We aren’t running a grocery store, where you can just come in and take what you want.”
David Bradford, creator of the popular course, applauded the move. “My understanding is that many students were able to take the course without using a bullet this year. To my mind, those students are unlikely to be sufficiently committed to the experience. If I had it my way, we would screen everybody with a Cannonball-Run-style challenge before anyone could register.” Bradford went on to express his hopes that the three lucky students “would be good ones.”
Because the three available spots are likely to be heavily bulleted, Laura Wang outlined the procedures she would use to select the students during the registration process. “At 4:00 AM in the middle of spring break,” she explained, “I will place a riddle somewhere on the Axess site. The first three students to find and solve the riddle will be admitted to the class.”
