Just a few days into the quarter, Jennifer Bergeron, MBA2, made the fateful decision to take a leave of absence from business school and return to her pre-MBA employer, the U.S. State Department in Washington D.C.

Bergeron, who has served in Pakistan and worked multilaterally from the UN in New York City, was asked by a former boss to return to the State Department in the wake of the September 11th bombings. She has considerable experience in the myriad policy and coordination issues involved with international coalitions, including counter-terrorism policy. Additionally, Bergeron still possesses necessary security clearances. The pressing need for people with these qualifications strongly impacted her decision to return to work.

It is unclear what Bergeron’s eventual role will be and how long she will be absent, but she made it known that she appreciates all of the support that the community has given her, including the (temporary) farewell party that was thrown for her by her classmates. The Reporter, together with the rest of the GSB, wishes her the best of luck.
