We kicked the summer off at Blondie’s in the Mission District. Let’s just say you get the bang for your buck on the HUGE martinis. Our next stop in SF was the infamous Boom Boom Room. There, Papa Grows Funk took everyone to New Orleans into wee hours of the morning. The music was so good for a few of us, we forgot about work the next day! We then whisked off to North Beach, the place where there REALLY is something for EVERYONE. At the Crowbar, we got a chance to mix and mingle with some students from Haas and finished off the night with my husband having to kindly explain to some overly intoxicated gentleman that I was married. I mean what do you expect, it was North Beach.
Now hold on. We discovered some jewels in the Silicon Valley area too. St. Stephen’s Green, a cute little Irish pub in Mountain View, won major votes for its authentic atmosphere, right down to the fish & chips. Over in Woodside, we gathered at the Pioneer Saloon for some live entertainment by Doug Scott’s band, Quality Hog. The Pioneer has a “Goose” feel to it that made everyone feel welcome, including Doug’s grandparents. Some of us got real comfortable, including the band’s new unofficial tambourine girl, Ms. Lara Bridges, MBA2. Good music, dancing, and drinking, what more could you ask for?
Let’s face it. It’s been wonderful. But all good things must come to an end (or hiatus, since we will be back every Tuesday once the school year starts). Special thanks to Amy Wustefeld, MBA2 and Kelly Hoffman, MBA2 for helping me find these great places this summer. Also, I am pleased to present the unofficial FOAM Committee Member Award to Alex Abell, MBA2. Alex managed to make it every FOAM this summer, all while working in investment banking for part of it. Now that’s dedication. Oh I forgot, they’re not busy anyway. Just kidding. Alex, here’s to you! Somebody buy the man a drink!
